Yes! Here are a few reasons why many people prefer A2 ghee:
- Gentle on Digestion: Made exclusively from the milk of indigenous Indian cows, it contains only A2 protein, making it naturally easier to digest, gut-friendly, and known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
- The Bilona Method: Rather than using large-scale commercial processing, we make our ghee by hand-churning curd into butter using the traditional Bilona method. This slow, time-honoured process helps retain its natural nutrients while giving it a rich aroma and signature granular texture.
- Nutrient Dense: Sourced from free-grazing cows, our A2 ghee is naturally rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, butyric acid, and essential vitamins A, D, E, and K, making it a wholesome choice for everyday use.
Here are four simple ways to get an idea of whether your honey is 100% pure:
- The Water Test: Add a spoonful of honey to a glass of water. Pure honey usually settles at the bottom in a thick lump, while diluted or adulterated honey tends to dissolve much more quickly.
- The Thumb Test: Place a drop of honey on your thumb. Pure honey is thick and stays in place, whereas adulterated honey is more likely to spread or run.
- The Paper Test: Put a small drop on a paper towel. Pure honey generally won't soak into the paper right away. If it leaves a noticeable wet spot or spreads quickly, it may contain added water or syrup.
- Check for Crystallization: Pure, raw honey naturally crystallizes over time, especially in cooler temperatures. This is a normal sign of natural honey, not spoilage. Honey that stays perfectly clear and runny for a very long time may have been heavily processed or altered.
Note: These home tests can give you a general indication of purity, but they aren't conclusive. A certified laboratory NMR test is the most reliable way to detect sophisticated sugar syrup adulteration.
Heeng (asafoetida) is a fragrant spice made from the dried resin of the giant fennel plant. It's a staple in many Indian kitchens and has been used in traditional wellness practices for generations.
Here are some of its most common uses:
- Culinary Flavor Enhancer: When added to hot oil or ghee during tadka (tempering), heeng's strong raw aroma transforms into a rich, savoury flavour that closely resembles cooked onions and garlic.
- Aids Digestion: Heeng is well known for supporting digestion. It has traditionally been used to help reduce gas, bloating, and stomach discomfort, which is why it's often added to lentils, beans, and vegetables like cabbage and cauliflower.
- Allium Substitute: For people who avoid onions and garlic because of dietary, religious, or Ayurvedic preferences, such as in Jain cooking, heeng adds depth and complexity to curries and other dishes.
- Traditional Remedy: In Ayurveda, heeng is valued for stimulating the appetite, supporting healthy digestion by kindling the digestive fire (Agni), and helping ease respiratory congestion because of its natural anti-inflammatory properties.
The combination of A2 Ghee + Heeng has long been valued in Ayurveda for supporting healthy digestion. Here are a few simple ways to include it in your daily meals:
- The Classic Tadka: Warm 1–2 tablespoons of A2 Ghee, add a pinch of Heeng along with cumin seeds, and pour it over your dal, khichdi, or soup just before serving.
- Sautéing Heavy Vegetables: Use this combination while cooking vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, or beans. It's a traditional way to make these foods easier to digest and help reduce bloating.
- Light Rice Upgrade: Mix a teaspoon of warm A2 Ghee and a small pinch of Heeng into freshly cooked plain or jeera rice for a simple, flavourful, and stomach-friendly meal.
- Onion-Garlic Substitute: Cook your tomato purée and spices in this mixture to create a rich, savoury base without using onions or garlic.
Quick Tip: Add Heeng to warm ghee rather than smoking-hot ghee. This helps prevent the spice from burning and allows its flavour and traditional digestive benefits to come through.
The biggest difference comes down to the plant they're made from: Camellia sinensis.
Here's a quick breakdown:
- True Tea: True tea is made exclusively from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. This includes Black, Green, White, and Oolong teas. Since they all come from the same tea plant, they naturally contain caffeine along with beneficial antioxidants known as catechins.
- Herbal Tea (Tisanes): Herbal teas aren't technically "tea" at all. They're made by steeping herbs, flowers, roots, seeds, bark, or fruits, such as Chamomile, Peppermint, Hibiscus, or Ginger. Most herbal infusions are naturally caffeine-free and are enjoyed for their distinct flavours and traditional wellness benefits, whether that's helping you unwind, supporting digestion, or simply offering a soothing drink.
Think of it this way: True tea comes from one specific plant, while herbal tea is made from just about everything else nature has to offer.
A snack is truly healthy when it keeps you satisfied and energized instead of giving you a quick sugar high followed by an energy crash.
Here's a simple checklist to help you choose healthier snacks:
- Nutrient-Dense, Not Calorie-Dense: A good snack should provide essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber rather than empty calories from refined flour or added sugars.
- The Power Trio (Protein, Fiber & Healthy Fats): The best snacks include at least two of these. Fiber (from oats or seeds), protein (from nuts or roasted chana), and healthy fats (from almonds or A2 ghee) digest more slowly, helping you stay full for longer while supporting steady energy levels.
- Minimal Processing: The closer a snack is to its natural form, the better. Options like roasted makhana (foxnuts), fresh fruit, dry fruits, nuts, and seeds are generally a better choice than heavily processed chips or cookies.
- Low Added Sugar & Sodium: Look for snacks that get their flavour from natural ingredients, spices, or traditional sweeteners like raw honey or jaggery instead of excessive refined sugar, salt, or artificial preservatives.
The Golden Rule: A healthy snack should comfortably fill the gap between meals, keeping you satisfied and energized without making you feel overly full or sluggish.
